Stanton and McMahon's Smoke House at the corner of Fifth and Chillicothe Streets, Portsmouth, Ohio

The Smoke House provided its patrons with the latest sports news and scores for baseball and football games from across the nation, which they pulled from the news wires and radio. When the Smoke House was remodeled in 1912, the Portsmouth Daily Times proclaimed that it would be “one of the finest ‘weed dispensaries’ in the state.”
