Jacques (Jack) Creasy, organizer and manager of the Portsmouth Shoe-Steels

Jack Creasy graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1922, having played four years of varsity football. He led the team as captain during his senior year and later played semi-professional football with the Portsmouth Smoke House and the Presidents. In 1927, at the age of 25, Creasy purchased the equipment of the defunct Presidents and organized the Portsmouth Shoe-Steels, signing Jim Thorpe as player-coach of the city's first truly professional football team.
